WHO IS OUR LADY OF LOURDES?

On February 11, 1858, the Virgin Mary appeared to fourteen-year-old Bernadette Soubirous in a grotto at Lourdes, France. Over eighteen apparitions, Mary identified herself as “the Immaculate Conception” and instructed Bernadette to dig in the ground, revealing a spring. The waters of Lourdes have since been associated with thousands of healings, and millions of pilgrims visit annually seeking physical and spiritual renewal. Bernadette later became a nun and was canonized in 1933.
